Today I am thankful for living close to my family so that I can easily drive to see them and enjoy Thanksgiving with them. I used to live 11 hours away and coming home for Thanksgiving was not always possible so I am very thankful to be living close to everyone once again. And I am particularly thankful for my grandmother’s turkey and dressing. It is awesome and one of my favorite foods. So glad she is still with us and able to cook her dressing for all of us.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Today I am thankful for not having to worry about what my family will eat for Thanksgiving dinner. Many people in the US scrape by week to week to feed their family, many rely on soup kitchens and the help of aid organizations such as the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and food banks among others for their food source. I know I am blessed in that food is always plentiful in our house and I know I need to make a more conscious effort to contribute to local food banks either monetarily or with food donations.

Today I am thankful for the peaceful sound of rain falling that woke me up this morning. Much more peaceful to wake up to rainfall than the alarm clock. I normally don’t like rain and dreary days, but today I remembered that rain will help to water all of the iris rhizomes that I just dug up and replanted. So for once I was not singing “Rain, Rain, go away. Come again some other day!”
